On the surface the iPad Mini looks like a shrunken model of the iPad and in some way it is just that. However, keeping the competitive prices in mind, Apple has cut down on some corners which you may not like.
Design
The Mini iPad is about 7.9 inches diagonally and has an IPS panel in LED backlight. Apple has chosen a very slim bezel for the sides and the advantage is that you get a larger display. But when used in the portrait mode, there is less space to hold at the sides i.e. you fingers overlap on the display screen. The iPad is delightfully slim at 7.2 mm at depth and weighs only 308g.
Interface and Media
The Mini iPad runs the iOS6 0.1 and the feel is just how you would find on the iPad. And along with the retina iPad you get the Siri along with the package. The UI is also quick and runs smoothly. Another big benefit is that all the HD apps that have been designed for the iPad are very much compatible with the iPad as well!
The PPI count is also higher as it uses the same resolution for the screen. A higher resolution screen would have made it pricier but it would have been worth for the incredible experience you get. The media playback is good when you are using a great set of headphones. The rear speaker audio is good but could have been louder for better entertainment.
Connectivity
In terms of connectivity, the Mini iPad, we get a dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. There is also an enough number of sensors. Over all, great connectivity!
Camera
Apple has definitely not compromised on the camera quality and you get an iSight 5 Mega Pixel from the retina iPad. The camera captures good details along with perfect colors. It’s a lot easier to take photos with the mini iPad as it is so much lighter and convenient to hold.
Battery life
You can watch a good 10 hours of videos, as Apple offers a superb battery life with its 16.3WHr battery. This is certainly the best battery you will come across when it comes to mini tablets.
